5 journaling prompts to boost self confidence

Hey! I really wanted to sit down and write about something that’s been on my mind a lot lately. I’ve been thinking about confidence and what it means to me as well as how it’s affected my life. There are SO many benefits to finding what makes you feel confident.  I also figured some journal prompts for confidence would be pretty beneficial for ALL of us ( me included haha)!

So, with that being said, here are some fantastic journal prompts to BOOST your self-confidence!

Let’s get started.

1. What are 3 things you are proud of yourself for?

If you’re anything like me, it is incredibly easy to let yourself become caught up in your failures, your bad moments, and words that you wish you didn’t say. It is inevitable that we do this, but there’s always a way to turn these intrusive thoughts around.

You need to be telling yourself that you are proud of all that you’ve accomplished because I truly believe that none of us do this enough! It can be a huge accomplishment or it can simply be getting out of bed and getting ready for the day. No accomplishment is too big or too small.

Whenever I’m feeling down about myself, I love to sit down and think of all the things I have done throughout the week that were hard and I pushed through.

Some examples are, “I went to work when I felt like going was the end of the world” or “I read my book every day this week.” You see? Such small and simple things, but reminding yourself that you have accomplished things that have seemed hard is so crucial to finding that self-confidence that we all wish to have.

2. What are 3 personal traits you love about yourself?

No, it’s not a cliche! Think about what you love about yourself. Do it right now! It can be centered around your character or your physical appearance, who cares…this is about you.

You should be as narcissistic as possible when doing this. Tell yourself your booty is looking good today, tell yourself that you are a phenomenal writer, tell yourself that you are KIND and people love to be around you. There are a million things about you that are amazing.

When thinking these things about ourselves, it does become hard to think about these things. But sit down and ponder. Let ideas come rolling through and make sure you’re writing them all down. Remind yourself of all the things that are great about you. There are SO many things! I have no doubt.

To make it easier on ya, I’m saying write down 3, but in reality, try to write down as many as you can until you realize how worthy and amazing you truly are. You are so worthy!

3. What is a negative thought you have about yourself? What can you do to get rid of this negativity?

Despite our best efforts to not think negatively about ourselves, it is simply our nature. To be real with you, I have these thoughts all the time. The main ones being “you are being too loud”, “you never text people back, you’re a bad friend”, or the infamous “you have ‘man’ shoulders’. Yeah, I just poured out some of my insecurities to you. HOWEVER, I’m not feeling too insecure about these things anymore because I have learned how I can work through them EVERY DAY.

You will never be able to get rid of ALL of your insecurities, but dealing with them face to face and asking yourself why you say these negative things about yourself really helps. I can ask myself, “are you LOUD or are you just the life of the party?”, “have your friends really said that you’re a bad friend for being a bad texter or are you imagining it?”, etc…

It is so important to take a step back and realize why you’re having these thoughts while also realizing they are NOT a part of who you are. It is a simple thought, quick and fleeting.

There is not enough time in the day to spend worrying about these things, so learn how to think them, realize they are not true, and move on. Don’t suppress them, just take them and let them go.

4. What is one thing you’re really good at?

This question makes major changes. There are some people who are simply prodigies and find this question super easy. They may have simply been BORN being good at something. For normal people, however, it may feel like you’re not incredibly good at anything. You may perhaps feel like a “jack of all trades, master of none.”

I challenge you to take a second to think of one thing, literally one thing, that you are exceptional at. Doesn’t have to be a sport, and it doesn’t even really have to be anything physical that you do. Simply say “I am amazing at thinking about others” or “I am one of the best at being curious”. I’m sure there is something you can think of that you are exceptional at.

Actually, I’m POSITIVE there is!

Write it down, and think of how you can utilize this skill more often because it is very likely it doesn’t get used as much as it could be.

As an example, I tell myself “you are one of the best at FEELING everything deeply.” Maybe I can’t go to the Olympics for this God-given talent, but I can sure appreciate it and use it in my daily life.

You can do it too, and it is SURE too boost your confidence up a notch!

5. How can you use your talents to uplevel your life?

Back to the topic of utilizing your talents.

If you’re struggling with finding what you want to do with your life or how to upgrade what you’re doing, use this advice.

Take something you’re really good at and find how to incorporate it into the career you want or the one you want to have. It might not make sense, but let me dive further into this.

For me, I had NO idea what I wanted to pursue as my career in high school. It was always a stressor for me as it is for many high school students. I think I kind of cracked the code.

Don’t follow your “passion” necessarily, but take what you are given and run with it. As I said in the above section, I find that I have a talent for feeling things deeply and having lots of empathy for others. Through this, I decided that nursing would be a wonderful career for me simply because I would have such a passion for helping others deal with what they’re going through. I do not by any means have this crazy passion for nursing, but I know I can find fulfillment in this career because of who I am.

It doesn’t have to be for your career, but it could simply be used in ways to uplevel your life. Use your talents to the best of your abilities to create a life you love.

Repeat this affirmation: “With every breath I take, I become more and more confident”

Affirmations are one of the best and most effective ways to change your mindset. I have been using this affirmation for the past couple of weeks to help me manage my anxiety and self-consciousness. I will quite literally be at work murmuring it under my breath.

This affirmation alone has helped me shift my mindset when I have rough days. It helps me to remember my worth on the days that it seems to leave my mind. It is crazy how you can LITERALLY speak things into existence. By telling yourself that you are and are becoming more confident, you will BECOME MORE CONFIDENT.

Trust me, just try it. It will work wonders!

I truly wish you all of the best and am sending so much love your way. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I am telling YOU.

Confidence journal prompts to boost self-confidence

You are so worthy of all you wish to have and achieve in your life. Not only that but you are worthy of the friends and family you are loved by. You are worthy of a career you enjoy. Last but not least, you are worthy of a life that you can’t wake up to. You deserve it all.

“A healthy self-love means we have no compulsion to justify to ourselves or others why we take vacations, why we sleep late, why we buy new shoes, why we spoil ourselves from time to time. We feel comfortable doing things which add quality and beauty to life.”
