Hi guys! Hope you’re feeling prepared for a new week, a new day, a new phase of life, wherever you’re at this Monday (or whenever you’re reading this). I’m feeling so energized and rejuvenated when it comes to my blog and business, and I feel like personally, I’m starting a new phase of my life! As I’m currently a college student, I wanted to talk this week about lazy vegan snacks to buy!

best lazy vegan snacks

However, some of us are ballin on a budget. Especially us students, yanno? So, I wanted to make these snacks things that are beyond easy to prepare (time is money) and are cheap enough for even a college student.

This post is all about the best lazy vegan snacks for any kind of person. These snacks will cater to all, will be savory and sweet, and will be healthy and not as healthy (we can’t be perfect all of the time)!

So this one is for all of my plant-based, vegan gals. Let’s get into it…

Where do you shop?

As I said, I am a college student. I don’t have the budget to shop at Trader Joe’s or Sprouts every week, which is SO unfortunate. Trust me, if I could, I would.

I’m going to be 100% transparent with you all. I shop at Walmart. Say what you will, but it is an amazing place for getting good deals. I could complain about the product, but I’ve found that if you shop at the right times and search for good produce, it can be easy to find.

You DON’T have to spend loads of money to eat healthily and to eat vegan. I promise! It’s all about slowly figuring it out for yourself. So don’t feel so much pressure. Just do your best!

Now that we’re getting to the list, I’m going to preface by saying that we’re going to start with the savory snacks before moving on to the sweet! Now we can start…

1. Avocado & Crackers

First on our list is avocado and crackers. This is something that I used to eat as a kid with my mother. It was always one of my favorite snacks. Little did I realize, it’s actually pretty healthy as avocados consist of healthy fats

As a kid, I would always use club crackers which are generally considered vegan. Really you can use any type of crackers, and if I were to do it today, I would most likely use something like saltines…they’re my guilty pleasure. You can also substitute this for a more healthy cracker. It’s super versatile!

For this snack, I would simply cut up an avocado into individual slices, place the avocado on crackers, and top it with some seasoning that would usually consist of salt or pepper.

This snack is incredibly easy to prepare, maximizing at around 2-3 minutes for preparation. It is also pretty cheap. Shopping at Walmart, I can get avocados for around $0.90 and the crackers for $1-2, making this healthy snack total around less than $3. It is so worth it!

2. Chickpea Snacks

This next takes no preparation as you can buy it in a bag and eat it straight. It’s chickpeas snacks! The chickpeas are roasted and come in a variety of flavors including sea salt to barbeque.

You can basically find these at any store. I get mine from Walmart and found them in the nuts and trail mix section. The brand that I usually buy from is Biena…here’s the link: https://bienasnacks.com/

Beans are such an important part of a vegan diet and having them as a snack is incredibly convenient. They’re a great source of protein while tasting super good. I could not recommend these more, especially for people who are starting their vegan/plant-based journey.

These snacks range from $2-$5 depending on where you shop and what brands you purchase, making them a great affordable snack.

3. Edamame

I really don’t think I will ever stop raving about edamame.  As a girl who grew up loving Japanese food this was addicting to me. It’s as easy to prepare as it is tasty!

When I purchase my edamame, I get it frozen and just have to heat it up in the microwave for a few minutes. It’s super easy to put in a container to eat throughout the week as well.

Edamame is also a great source of protein, just like chickpeas. In one cup of edamame, there are about 17 grams of protein which is super good to have in a vegan diet!

Frozen edamame or even at edamame snacks cost just around $2.

4. Pita Chips & Dip

There are a lot of different ways that you can go with pita chips. There are so many different dips and spreads that you can pair them with! They are personally one of my all-time favorite snacks. I LOVE pairing them with good hummus.

This has been my favorite snack the past couple of weeks, and I always tend to feel satisfied after having just a little bit in between my tasks.

Pita chips cost around $3 while hummus will cost around $3-4. They also last quite a while, so you really get the bang for your buck!

5. Chocolate Hummus

While we’re on the topic of hummus, I have to throw out my favorite sweet snack EVER: Chocolate Hummus. I could genuinely rave on about it forever, that’s how good it is.

I’ve tried both the Sabra and the Good & Gather chocolate hummus, and both are so good! I know there are a lot of brands, these are just the ones that I’ve had personally. They are perfect to pair with strawberries, raspberries, or bananas. I usually eat this after dinner and before bed for a good treat.

It is more like a dessert, but still contains chickpeas, providing you with protein.

Chocolate hummus is usually priced around $3 and is COMPLETELY worth it. I will never stop going on about my love for this snack, haha!

6. Oreos..(yes, you read that right)

Haha…you thought we were going to end on a healthy note, huh? Well, I’m pretty sure every vegan and their mother might know about this one, but I felt like it was necessary to throw in.

There is always going to be a Saturday night where all I want is to stay at home, snack on a cookie, and watch New Girl. Finding vegan dessert can often be difficult when you don’t have a huge budget!

In my opinion, Oreos really come in clutch. Though a DEFINITE treat, they are vegan! So eat these cookies in your sweatpants or whatever it may be, and feel good that you’re eating vegan. There is nothing wrong with having a fun Oreo-filled night every once in a while.

Oreos, like many of the other products, are usually around $3, making it the perfect weekend snack to treat yourself. You deserve it, babe!

I really hope you got some easy inspo for your next grocery list. Eating vegan does NOT have to be a huge hassle. You can make it something that is EASY for YOU. Do not feel like you have to make perfect salads and buddha bowls to be a “real” vegan.

I also hope that my readers who haven’t tried the vegan diet may look more into it. It has changed my life for the better, and I will always be thankful that my mom pushed me to try it!

Now, let’s get a little dose of inspiration as you go throughout your week. This week I wanted to look at a quote from James Clear, author of Atomic Habits. He has so many great thoughts!

“Most people optimize for the day ahead. A few people optimize for 1-2 years ahead. Almost nobody optimizes for 3-4 years ahead (or longer). The person who is willing to delay gratification longer than most reduces competition and gains a decisive advantage.

Patience is power.”

I love this. Being able to work hard despite not seeing immediate results is a great skill that will help you to shape a wonderful future for yourself. I believe that all of you have amazing potential and power, so get to it!

With that being said, I will see you all either on my Instagram (@xojacilynn) or on my next post. Also, don’t forget to check out my last blog post to stay updated. Here’s the link: https://xojacilynn.com/affirmations-success-and-abundance/.I wish you an absolutely lovely day! Sending love…
